Regular Season
Information
The Esports Championship Series, a leading esports initiative founded by FACEIT and supported by Twitch, will launch season three of its ECS Counter-Strike league this fall. Following the format of the successful debut season, season three will include 20 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams (10 from North America and 10 from Europe). Seasonthree of the ECS league officially kicks off March 31, 2017.
Before the main tournament starts ECS will be hosting a "Development League" where notable organization that where not part of season one and teams from the open qualifiers will compete for the last spots in the tournament.
Format
Open Qualifiers
- 2 open qualifiers per region
- Single-Elimination Brackets
- Best-of-One Matches
- 4 Teams from each region will proceed to development league
Development League
- 8 Teams, 4 invited, 4 from open qualifiers
- Round-Robin Group Stage
- Best-of-Two Matches
- Top 2 Teams from each region proceed to promotion stage
Promotion Matches
- Last 2 teams from ECS Season 2
* Europe Teams: Virtus Pro & Fnatic
* North America Teams: Team SoloMid & Complexity Gaming
- Top 2 teams from development league
- Single-Elimination Bracket
- Best-of-Five Matches
- Top 2 teams proceed to league play stage

- Each team plays each other team in two Best-of-One series
