On Sunday the grand-final of the sixth season of Fragleague was played. The two best teams of the tournament clashed heads, Swedish side Galaxy Racer and SJ from Finland. Galaxy Racer came unbeaten in to the final, losing only two maps during the whole season.
SJ had some problems during the group stage, but became stronger as the tournament went on, and took a great scalp in the semi-final when they beat Lilmix 2-1. Lilmix went on to lose in the bronze game against another Finnish team Nyyrikki Esports.
The grand-final became kind of a anti-climactic story, or maybe it was just Galaxy Racer showing they were by far the best team of the season. The final started on Inferno. The first half of Inferno was also the tightest of the match. SJ kept up with Galaxy Racer when playing as terrorists, and it was 9-6 to Galaxy Racer going into halftime.
After that it was all Galaxy Racer. As the attacking side on Galaxy Racer manhandled SJ, and closed out the map, 16-9. The second map of Dust2 was a one-sided story. The Swedes took 12 rounds as terrorists, not letting SJ into game. As ct Galaxy Racer took the necessary rounds and beat SJ on Dust2 with 16-4, and with that the whole season.
Big congratulations to Galaxy Racer, the champions of the sixth season of Fragleague Top Division. With that they take home 100 000 SEK, meanwhile SJ gets 50 000 SEK and Nyyrikki Esports receives 25 000 SEK. This is what Galaxy Racer manager had to say about the grand-final and what the future holds for the team:
"We played this event to win, get a confidence boost to build on. As well as some nice summer break cash of course. We had the mindset that we were by far the best team in this tournament and get a feeling to play being the favorite, and the pressure that can come from that. Moving forward we have the Spring Sweet Spring #3 main event coming up on Monday. We aim to reach the playoffs and see how far we can go in the event from there."
The top three looks as follows.
1. — 100 000 SEK
2. — 50 000 SEK
3. — 25 000 SEK
