Brazilian player Eduardo “LORO” Monteiro has reportedly been killed following a robbery in the early hours of last night. The player was the captain of highly rated Brazilian team amXeno - who most recently performed at the WCG Brazil qualifiers without their captain - and gradually making a name for him self in the eSports world. Yet it has been reported on Brazilian website MiBR that he was gunned down in a robbery attempt last night, taking six shots before the assailant fled the scene with the players phone and documents.
It is yet another tragic event in what has been a tough year for the eSports and CS scene in particular after a series of unfortunate accidents have cost the lives of two players since the turn of the year. Firstly Portuguese player Mike "b1nd" Martins passed away in a car crash, and most recently mousesports player and CS legend Antonio 'cyx' Daniloski suffered the same fate following a blow-out on the motorway. I'd like to, on behalf of Cadred, express my deepest sympathy to Eduardo's family, friends and fellow team mates in what will be an incredibly tough time for them. Rest in peace.
