I wrote to a guy at tomshardware.com (experts on hardware) and asked some questions on mice. I asked if 800 dpi makes your mouse more more exact, and I also asked if increasing the rate of the USB makes the mouse better in any way. Here is his answer:
"Resolution in dpi has nothing to do with the sensor. It's about speed. If you encrease your resolution, the mouse will go faster. If your mouse goes up to 800 physically, that means that you may go faster without loss of precision. It's difficult to understand. Speed of course depends also of the resolution of the screen. Normally 400 dpi is right for 800x600. But just adjust and try. At the end, it's up to your feeling.
USB is not a bootleneck because 125 exanges per seconds are enough. The higher speed of the sensor is used in the mouse to get more pictures and so to be more accurate at any time. It helps to send the right data at the right moment to the computer.
Higher USB speed woen't increase the response time. Over than 1/100 of a seconde is already faster than human eye and of course your reaction latency is much higher. We tried : no change. It's designed to work at 100 fps in the drivers."
Vad tror ni om det då alla 500 hz känner ni verkligen skillnad eller inbillar ni er bara!?
