"Hi
I have just read this invitation to join the demonstration on the 24th April. I'm student at Valand Kunstakademie and have gotten this invitation from several of my classmates. I must say I strongly disagree with this protest. Political censorship is never a positive thing in a democratic country - which is what thought Sweden stood for. Goteborgs Universitet should be a forum for free speech - this demonstration is simply not respecting that. If you censure out opinions you don't agree with from the public forum then you make those people that hold those opinions feel marginalized - and in turn make the problem much worse. Wouldn't it be better to have discussion rather than a protest which marks out anybody who aggress with Sverigedemokraterna as a 'racist'. It's incredibly black and white thinking. Sverigedemokraterna are a legitimate political party who in 2010 received there first seat in the Swedish Parliament. Of course they should be given a place to discuss their views at one of Swedens biggest universities. Clearly there is a problem in Swedish society when people aren't allowed to discuss views that are perceived as politically incorrect. I have to stress that I find Sverigedemokraternas political views completely abhorrent - and if I was able to vote in Sweden there is no way they would ever get my vote. However they should absolutely get a platform to discuss them - this is not North Korea."
Kunde inte sagt det bättre själv.
