brunk

The last time we wrote about brunk was the day before yesterday, when he statemented his part of SK.swe. Earlier we've seen him in the topteam 2easy that had some raelly good players, but never came anywhere. Although, brunk is convinced – he's still got plenty of more to give!
I got the hold of him and asked a whole bunch of questions regarding everything between earth and hell – about him parting SK, his CS-history, ordinary CS-talk and his futureplans. Here you've got him: brunk!

Howdy brunk, could you tell us a bit about yourself and what you're up to?

Hello arcaon! My real name is Christoffer Forsberg, I'm 19 years old. I study technics the last year att Åva highschool in Täby which is kinda dull. Nowadays I'm checking my opportunitys to continue playing, and i do some Q3 once in a while!

Let's start out with the actual questions. Some days ago you parted SK since you didn't get any chance to play, how does it feel to quit after that much time in such a good team?

Well, it feels kinda sad but still good, misunderstand me right. ;) At the end i were more and more picked from the team and played under such press that it wasn't even fun to play, wouldn't have stayed so long if didn't know my pals so well. :) It was really a great team and we had always fun together. But, I felt that I weren't supposed to be a stand-in, and that i should use my skills and tactics fully. But anyway it feels kinda good to get away from the team without any mess, both parts were decided and we're still in touch! Will really miss them as I said, but i'll still meet them a lot and party once in a while!

Did this lead to any bad mood in the team? Which ones will you keep in touch with?

Hehe, I can't say which i will and will not keep contact with. I'll still be buddy with the whole team and talk to everyone, someones a bit more and some a bit less. I bet I'll keep best in touch with fisker, and ahl ofcourse, we live very close. I haven't got any enemies among them, it's exactly as before, just we're not in the same team anymore!

You've already confirmed that you will keep playing CS. Are you going to aim for some new team with big sponsors or just look for a team that you feel comfortable with?

I will be seeking a team where i know the players since before, and I know that they're nice people, then the sponsors are quite important, if i don't find a team like that I bet I'll be playing in SEL for some team for a while until i get the chance for a bigger team. I wanna keep playing on the high level i've been performing on, so one day I may be facing SK and maybe even win an event without them!

Some people has speculated in the old team 2easy, and others think that you may find home in HLO, have you had contact with any team yet or are you planning to rest a bit?

2easy is not coming back. Not yet, but I don't know if it's going to happen in the future. I've had contact with some teams, I cant denie that! But what I can't do is give you the name of the teams, for different reasons. My plan is to find a team to play the WCG-qualifiern with, then I'm going to find a team to play for regularly. I do know which teams I want to be playing with.

Of all the teams you've been playing with, which one has suited you most?

Split thought about that one. I bet 2easy has been the best clan, because I always knew that i had my spot in the team and never needed to worry about it that, we always played for fun. Also SK i felt good playing in, I definetly don't have anything against anyone in SK, i love them all! Must say that bds is one of the politest and nicest persons i ever met, and I hope we'll still stay in touch for a LONG time! He's really into what he's doing, must be the ultimate coach a team can get.

To play at the toplevel, time is needed, what do your parents think about you spending most of your time in front of the computer?

They think it's really fun to make money on something I think is really fun, and the whole family is involved when I'm on competitions! Mom sits home and watches me on the net and puts everything forward to everyone else about my progress! But it's some whine about the schoolwork sometimes, but it had been the same if I wouldn't have played also. I got to thank gaming for a lot, all the nice and funny people I hade met during my way!

What has been the highpoint of your CS-carreer until today?

Well, good question actually! But one of my best memories is when i played with SK at CPL Winter 2002, we fried them pretty good! We "only" placed third, but I were really happy about my personal performance and i got to beat my old team, Team9, with 13-7 after a 5-0 lead. Otherwhise we won CPL Cannes, it felt really good to win a CPL for the first time.

Did you dream about being such big as you are today when you started playing CS on the higher level?

Hehe no, actually not, it was some thoughts about CB and so on. I didn't think about me playing as much as I did. Had a relationship lasting for like one year, when i started playing CS just for fun. Then we started to gain points at CB with 2easy, but it wasn't really serious play.

After my relationship ended with my girlfriend at that time, I got myself more and more stuck in the computers. Wasn't so much that i wanted to do at that moment. My first dream was to lead clanbase, the next to get sponsored by a it-café, then to get to CPL etc. :) I bet i've achieved the most of my dreams i've had about CS and gaming. But there's still some more to fulfill, ecspecially the one i have right now!

And what's that dream?

To beat SK on some event! Show them that I'm not a standin and that I can own as one of them! :)

How did this whole thing start, when did you get contact with CS for the first time? Which was your first clan?

The whole thing started with my IRL-pal log1c, who i've known for a long long time, started playing CS at his hourse and I got to play a life once in a while. (he was a clan-whore at that time also BTW :DD) Then i got my first good PC, 2001, didn't have any internet connection but I got a cd with CS and bots and started playing for like a month.

Thought it was hell of fun – podbots with jasonmode, I got nice stats and that's the thing that matters! ;) After a while, my and log1cs pal cocopuff got ADSL, so we had some LANs at his place at the time he got it, we had our favourtite pub-server, so we played from like 17 in the evening to 17 in the evening the day after, without dicsonnecting, it was great fun! Then i got home and got some rest and did the same thing the day after. :) So we hung out at cocopuff as often as we could with our comps and CS-public. One day when me and cocopuff were LANing, I got some really nice frags at public and a guy asked if I had any clan. I answered no and he asked me to join them, which i did. The team's name was aiR and i just played like a week with them, after that some of us started LaD, which i played for like a month or two.

After that i were clanless for some time, while log1c were doing his clan-whoring as usual. After a couple of clans, he joined some team that was named extend which I thought very intresting, so I fixed a try and joined the team after a week of gaming with them. Then I and log1c talked to a guy named Static^, who also played with extend, we left the team, got him with us and started 2easy with me, log1c, Filur, cocopuss and Static^ in the lead.

We kept together for a while in 2easy with many joins and parts, the people who were in 2easy at that time were brunk, cocopuff, log1c, Filur, Static^, BlackiE (just a short while), ahl, fisker, rightnow, Grims and ScreaM. (I didn't count SpawN in 2easy, as he joined when the name was team9). In october of november 2002 I decided to leave the team, we've had some pressure for a while and the mood wasn't great. I felt to play at a different level where everyone took things serious and needed to practise. So i parted and were clanless for a while until i joined Familjen where some of my IRL-pals were playing.

That didn't last for long either, because I got an offer from bds, he asked me if I wanted to join them for CPL Dallas with SK (3 weeks before Dallas). Surely i took his offer, and just an hour later they told be to change tag, i didn't understand anything! But i didn't refuse, so i changed tag and BOOM, now it was official that me and Medion had joined SK. After that it went up- and downhill and people thought that something should be done. We asked ElemenT to join us, which really was a good choice, one of the best players I've ever seen and he has a great gameplay.

After ESWC when we lost against zEx, some people in the team thought that i maybe should be skipping train too, then it ended with me not playing at all in Dallas, which made me sad, angry and disappointed.

After Dallas I hadn't any confidence left, I had too much pressure on me and when i played with the others it didn't feel fun, and I can't play good if it isn't fun. So after I got the message that they didn't want me to play the WCG-qualifier with them i got enough. I felt that it wasn't any point staying in SK, so I contacted bds. bds and me decided that it probably was best for me to leave, and now I'm clanless again!

You said that everything went quite fast when you joined SK, was it like a dream to suddenly play with the best team of the world?

Hehe, joining SK was one of my goals when i stopped playing for 2easy/mTw.se so I was very pleased at the moment! I reach almost every one of my goals and that's the way it's going to be in the future too!

It was a quite long story. Just like you, i've played public hour after hour and thought that it was really funny. When you first started playing clanmatches, was it like a whole new world opened, or did it go kinda slow in the beginning?

Hehe yeah, i remember my first dose of CS. log1c sat beside me and explained what they ment but i didn't get anything. They said "you'll stay here and keep here". Since i just played public before that i didn't have any clue about what they were talking about. :) But after some matches it was great fun!

Who is the best tactic-guy you've ever played with?

element. No doubt, extremely good gameplay and tactics. Really smart guy!

Do you think that CS is a really good game or are you only playing it because everyone else does it?

I think it's a great game, since it's clangames, much thinking involved, from nothing to action etc. Then it's great competition among the topteams! That makes it extra fun! :)

How long do you think CS will survive? Will 1.6, Condition Zero and CS2 do more good than bad?

I don't think Condition Zero will be all that hot. Everything depends on whether or not valve has decided to stop destroying CS and listen to us who play the game and not just think *MONEY MONEY MONEY*!!! But my guess it that it will survive for quite some time considering the amount of players! CS2 and 1.6 may just make it a little more fun, I think!

What do you think is needed to keep CS fresh? New versions with changes to the game, new maps, new tactics or perhaps even a new game mode, instead of Max Rounds and Chargers Only?

Hmm, more action! CO may help and 1.3-feeling wouldn't do things worse either! :)

What do you prefer, a team which rushes round after round and hopes to punch a whole in the defense, or a team which carefully plans its attacks, as most teams do nowadays? What do you think is the most entertaining to watch?

I believe in a mix of that, as in 2easy for example. Back then we rushed all the time, never chilled, it was just *pang pang pang* and it went pretty well, but it's good to use slow and strategical assaults and disappear, and sometimes *pang boom*-rush to surprise the opponents!

Back to some quesitons about you. Do you feel as an celebrity in the world of CS?

Hellyes, I do! I even hear some people say "OH MY GOD, BRUNK JUST WALKED BY" when you're out walking for example. :) And I don't mean to be unpolite when i don't always answer everyone on irc and sites etc. Sometimes it just gets too much and some days you're not in the mood!

During your time in SK, almost none of the players were interviewed since you had a contracct. What is your opinion about this? Were you reliefed to get away from it?

Well, that was mostly by the start of SK Insider, now it's not that important anymore. Maybe it was a little bit to rought, but everyone were together in this and we wanna get people to our page. :)

Were you often confrontated by journalists, both from newspapers, tv and sites, when you visited events?

Yesh, exspecially when we won CPL Dallas now, they came as dogs on a meatmarket!

How was it like, not to be able to play during the CPL?

Boring! :) It was really annoying to just sit and watch all the time. I WANTED TO PLAAAAAY!!! :D:D

Wasn't there anything else over there? I bet many out there are wondering about the mood at CPL. Is it just sponsors and fat checks or is it more like play for fun?

Well actually yes, we visiset sixflags in Dallas with the days two days earlier and had a really great time! They had all kind of crazy stuff! Then i visited a Metallicaconcert and fixed VIP and backstage, so you can have a lot of fun during tournaments, i can say! ;) But first of all you want to win and have fun together, nothing individually!

Sixflags?

Yeah, a big amusementpart with great rides! :) http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overtexas/index.asp

During your time as an actor in the CS-scene, has it been any special persons that you've had as idols and wanted to become?

Hehe, yeah, ahl was my idol for a while, I bought the mouse he had etc. He was my pal and mad at CS! Then maybe vesslan a bit also. I saw a demo with him a long time ago when i played lefthand which got me to do that also, otherwise i don't know......:) Maybe the HeatoN-burst? :D

SK.swe won many of the great tournaments that were played last year but never got to beat eoLithic, although SK.swe won more tournaments. Why?

They played anti-SK, studied our game and it worked. We beat them in one map at the ESWC-qualifier in the final, but sadly we came from LB so we were supposed to win twice, but 16-3 on dust2 and a lost pistolround isn't anything to be ashamed of.

Do you think that Norway and the other scandinavian countries have as much players as sweden does?

Norway has a bunch of good players and eoL showed that they got enough good players to keep in the top, but if you look around at more teams, Sweden tops my list!

level has always been a team with a high standard, what is your opinions on Team9:s choice to sponsor them instead of a Swedish clan?

Yeah, level's skilled. Dunno how often they can sit at nine and play though. But I think that they should help a swedish team instead, it's better to build up the swedish CS-teams than teams from different countries!

What do you think about so called CPL-rounds, when you camp the time out to give your opponents less money?

Hehe, it's bloody boring, but really good if you know how to use the moneysystem right. It's really annoying when it's used against you, but it's really clever when you do it yourself, so I wanna keep it ;)

Which clan is number one in the world, and why?

Right now it's SK, they've got some of the worlds best players and when they play as they should, they don't loose! Let's see how long they'll keep the title for this time!

To end things I've got a fitting question: when do you plan to quit playing CS?

When CS starts to die. Meaning when CS disappears from tournaments and another game takes over. Or if something were to happen in my IRL life which forced me to quit playing. But I hope nothing will! I will fulfill my dreams before I quit anyway, that's for sure!

What does an ordinary day in your life look like?

An ordinary day I wake up sometime in the morning, eat, shower and go to school. I idle in school for a while until I quit and go home or to the gym. When I get home I turn the computer on and chat on IRC and listen to music. Sometimes I even play some Q3 or CS mix, depends on what I feel like. Because I'm clanless now I don't pracc that much. If it's a weekend I'll probably go home and chill after school, talk to my friends and check out what the evening has got to offer. So probably I'll go out and party at some club in Stockholm or take it easy at home and then sleep for a really long time. Also, sometimes I even play a tune on the guitarr! :)

Then I'd like to thank you for your time! As usual I'll leave the last few rows to you!

Okey, thank you! With the last words I'd like to say a whole lot to a couple of persons but I'll shorten it down a little. But I still want to thank bds for all the help you gave me and for being a really good buddy and a good coach during my time in SK, I hope that we still can party together from time to time and also keep in touch! I'd like to thank my "fans" who've always supported me, even when times were bad.

You've always been there and not minded if it didn't go so well for me at a tournament or in a game. I'd also like to say thanks to near and dear who always are there when times are rough, you know who you are! Then I haven't got all that much to say except CU @ CPL SK. And to the Swedish scene, GROW UP A LITTLE!
