English: SK about their new team

1
We went to Stockholm and Inferno Online to meet up with the newly formed SK-team. GeT_RiGhT and RobbaN were the two lucky ones to answer some questions, and this is the text-version of that interview.
We would like to point out that the text is freely translated from a Swedish video-interview to an English text-interview.

RobbaN and GeT_RiGhT were answering the questions.

Sidan 1

GeT_RiGhT and RobbaN, you are visiting Inferno Online to practice a little. How does the new team feel?

RobbaN: It feels great, and a lot of fun! I mean, the two new players GeT_RiGhT and f0rest aren't exactly bad players, they are incredibly talented and it's great fun to play with them. We've been practicing a lot from GeT_RiGhT's place to try to become better at what we've been bad at on practice. We take every practice game serious and try to win them. We're trying to play good and clever so we'll notice what we're worse at and try to work on it, so it's great fun.

face lives in Denmark now, has there been any difficulties with him living in Denmark?

RobbaN: He tends to blame on it, and every time something is wrong with his computer or something I say "move to Sweden", but it's only for fun. Really there's no difference at all, the only difference is that it's harder for him if we're boot camping here and want to go home for the two days before heading off to a competition. Other than that, there's no big difference. The ping is not a problem, you rarely practice against Swedish teams anyway, it's always danish or German servers.

RobbaN, what eventually lead to that you, allen and face were to stay in SK?

RobbaN: I think that we were the best players and had the best chemistry in the team to make it work in the future. To have fun together whilst becoming the best team together this was the best combination of players. I mean, allen and I have been best friends for a long time and we hang out in our spare time too, and face is the kindest guy in the world so it works great.

walle had to leave the team, was that something he had been thinking of for a long time or was it just as simple "as he got fired"?

RobbaN: I don't really know what to answer because he wasn't exactly fired. It was something that was coming up over time and we had a lot or problems, losing a lot so something had to happen. It went how it went and it sucks for walle. I thought he was okay, he was good at what he did and he didn't have the "mad fragger" role in in the team. We hung out a lot on our spare time aswell since we lived together and such, so it was a damn hard decision to make but something had to happen.

Do you think he will continue within gaming?

RobbaN: That's a good question, it would be fun to see him in a new team but I don't think that's too likely.

Do you think the chance of him continuing within gaming but more like HeatoN and SpawN is more greater?

RobbaN: Yeah, maybe. There's a bigger chance of that happening.

Gux and SK had a big twist last year, as you both are well aware. Exactly why didn't Gux follow to SK? Was that the plan from the start?

RobbaN: No. SK really didn't want Gux back, and that's pretty natural from their side since he went behind their backs. As you know, we have two different versions of what happened. Personally I thought that what Gux did was really bad and I've told him that. After all the trash talking that occurred afterwards I find it impossible to find a way back together in SK.

But you are not enemies or anything now?

RobbaN: No.

Gux went to Lions, what do you think of them? Is 2011 their year?

GeT_RiGhT: Lions have made a pretty good trade I must say. Xizt is not a bad player, but he probably wants to develop even more in fnatic where he'll get a hold of more routine and more experience by traveling with them. Dsn and cArn are very skilled at developing players so it was the right move for Xizt to start playing for fnatic.

I think Lions made a great move snatching Gux to their team because Gux can, if he wants to put the time and effort in it, become the best player in the world. It sure looks like he wants to do that since he is playing an awful lot with Lions. I think he finds it really fun to play for them since he'll get the opportunity to shine more. He played really good in SK when he got the chance to shine a little, when he got to be the superstar. Once he came back to fnatic I and f0rest were the ones standing out a little and that made him being the more ordinary player, yet still a superstar. So I think he will do great things in Lions, but only if he really wants to.

Speaking of Xizt and fnatic, alot of people think their lineup for 2011 is a little bit strained, what do you think?

GeT_RiGhT: dsn and cArn really know what they are doing when they pick players so I don't think they are that lost. The only thing might be that I think they need some more time to become a great team. But they might shock everyone by winning everything like we did in fnatic 2009, we'll see in Kiev. I don't think they will be as bad as everyone think, I think they are a team that many will underestimate, leaving them face-punched when fnatic wins.

While we're on it I can direct the next question towards you, GeT_RiGhT. cArn wrote in an interview that you guys (you, f0rest and Gux) didn't want to continue playing with him and dsn. What was the reason?

GeT_RiGhT: The thing is that I had been playing with fnatic for two years and f0rest for five, we felt in the end that we needed something new because the team was sort of shattered. On a meeting we said that we wanted to change players, both to the organization and to the players. People started to throw words, nothing I want to go into detail, but that was that. We felt like we needed something new, we needed a new in game leader and another new player. We didn't think that dsn and cArn wanted to be separated since they've been playing together for such a long time, they are like Chip 'n' Dale. We wanted to start winning again, get our joy back and have fun so we just wanted something new.

Are there any hard feelings between you three and dsn and cArn?

GeT_RiGhT: No, I don't think so. I mean, I talk to dsn a little but nothing more. We'll probably greet each other on tournaments, maybe have a little chat but nothing more to it.

Over to Extreme Masters in Kiev which is waiting around the corner. How are you going to prepare for this event, besides this little visit to Inferno Online?

RobbaN & GeT_RiGhT: We are boot camping at GeT_RiGhT's home right now, we've been there since Sunday, and today is Thursday. We'll be there until Sunday and then we'll practice the last two days from home. It always ends in the late hours. One night we actually played Evil Geniuses with 140 ping versus their 40 ping, that was a kind of fun. The crazy think was that we beat them, and four o'clock in the morning.

What does your day look like during a boot camp?

RobbaN: I wake up around noon, have a cup of coffee and sit down to surf around as usual. I play some CSDM, an hour or so, and then I start looking back on the practice from the day before to see if we can improve our weaker sides. When everyone else wake up we go through the resolution, followed by cooking up some dinner. The first day GeT_RiGhT made lasagna, the next day we had tacos. f0rest made a salad one day and today is allens turn. He said he was going to order take out to the house, but we'll see how that goes.

So you actually eat kind of healthy food?

RobbaN: We try to cook our own food, yes. We practice as long as there are matches available. The good matches aren't available until around 17:00, and then you play until 01 or 02. After that you play CSDM or do something else.

GeT_RiGhT: There are like two hours where you play something else or just chill out, but you often end up playing some CS anyway. Sometimes we watch demos.

When you say that the "good matches aren't available until 17:00", could you describe the "bad" matches?

RobbaN: Allen was complaining that face was bad at finding practice matches, so he (allen) found a match versus a ukranian team called "Carlotte". They weren't that good, it ended up with us playing five AWP:s. Mashed potatos. You try to play serious from the start but once you notice that they are really bad, when they don't even have tactics, there's no use in playing. You don't gain anything, you might aswell just play CSDM. So around 17:00 the better teams play.

It's well known that a new formed team has a bigger shot at winning a tournament since no one knows anything special about them. Do you think this applies to your team aswell?

RobbaN: ALL the teams are more or less new now, all the teams have made a minor roster change. Mousesports, SK, mTw, fnatic... I guess Na`Vi and Frag eXecutors are the only ones who haven't changed a player. So Extreme Masters in Kiev will be really fun to follow, there will be a lot of new tactics. You need to have a good day to win, a really good day.

Speaking of tactics and such, how would you describe the new SK:s style of playing? Is it a mixture of the old SK and old fnatic or is it a completely new one?

RobbaN: I'd call it pretty random actually. We try to vary the quick and slow tactics, but we haven't really come up with some final rounds yet. We try not to become read and fall for anti-strategies after only one tournament.

It's always important to win a tournament, but is it even more important to win the first tournament with a new team?

RobbaN: I don't think it's more important, but the will to win is greater now. I think we'll all be really excited the first game, even though we're not facing the best team in the first round. I think every match will be like it was five years ago. When you put down as much time and effort into practice as we are doing right now you really want to play.

GeT_RiGhT: You just want to hear the screams when you win the pistol round, when everyone are really pumped up.

If you reach the final at the European finals in Kiev, which opponent would be the greatest one to face?

RobbaN: Personally it doesn't mater, really. There's no team I'd rather face.

GeT_RiGhT: It would be fun to play Na`Vi on their home court and beat them. I don't really care but it would be fun if it was like on Arbalet Best Of Four with that many spectators. Maybe beat Na`Vi in a semi final to make them feel extra small.

Once we're on Na`Vi, they were the superior team last year. There are very few team who can keep their "best team in the world" title two years in a row. Will Na`Vi sink now?

GeT_RiGhT: The thing is, they have Steelseries as sponsor now so the player have been forced to switch mice and such. That can be a problem for them but I still don't think they will be bad in the beginning.

RobbaN: They are the team who play the most, they can live on their money for 50 years and support their grandchildren with the money they have won. They probably have the will to keep practicing and train hard to be the best, I don't think fnatic had that kind of will last year after being the superior team 2009. You need to keep the momentum up to continue being the greatest.

Na`Vi was the team who took that big step from being a good team to a great team last year. Which team do you think have the biggest chance at doing the same leap in 2011?

RobbaN: Of course we believe in ourselves to become the best in that question, but other than that I have no idea.

GeT_RiGhT: Lions maybe? They won ASUS and that tournament had good teams, and I think Lions is a good team but they aren't really the gang who's won a big final when there has been great teams competing. They have always been a threat but not the team you expect to win. I think that might chance now, so it's probably them or the french team eSahara. sixeR is really talented.

We are now ending the interview leaving you guys to ask a question to our readers.

RobbaN: If we were to reach the final at the European Finals in Kiev, which team would you rather see us meet?
