Hyper

1
Known as perhaps the most valuable player last year Hyper had a big part in EYE's win against SK in CPL Summer. Shortly after the eagerly awaited victory Hyper's performances in EYE was noticed and he was offered a contract with SK, which he accepted. SK became NiP and they recruited Hyper's good friend vilden, but after some poor results the clan disbanded. The major part of the team went back to SK, but one person was missing. Hyper disappeared from the spotlight with no one knowing why or what was going to happen. The strong team-booster we all had fallen for had disappeared.
Now, a little bit more than six months from that he quit playing, Fragbite has examined every part of Sweden in the search for the people's old favourite. Why did he leave the community and will we see him playing on the servers once again? You know where to find the answers.

How come you didn't follow your mates to SK after you had left NiP?

I've been asking myself that very question several times and I haven't come up with any decent answer really, the only thing I know for sure is that I was pretty burnt up and sick of the game. I also wanted the summer off, hang out with my friends and go to the trip I've booked to Cyprus with them.

What do you think about that decision today? Do you still think it was a good decision?

No, I'm not all happy with my decision if I look back at it. It was a wild summer for sure, but I regret that I quit playing CS, I guess I didn't really thought of what to do after the summer.

Occasionally you can see people here on Fragbite wishing you would do a comeback. Let's jump to the most interesting part – will we see a comeback?

Personally I hope to get the chance to play CS proffesionally again, I really long for showing how CS is meant to played, and I have actually started playing some public and against bots. The most important thing in a prospective comeback would be to not make it a mediocre one. It's important to me to know that I could be among the best again, both individually and teamwise.

If you would make a comeback, what type of clan would you go to? How great are the chances of you rejoining your old team mates in SK, you think?

Naturally, it would be my biggest dream to get to play in SK again, but that's really not something that I hope for. If I make a comeback it must be with a clan that go to events and is really proffesional, that's where I belong and something else would be a waste of time.

Do you still keep yourself updated on the CS community? If you do, does the comments mentioned above affect you?

I keep myself updated fairly I guess, I follow all the bigger events and see how things go for SK. Yeah, of course all positive comments affect me a bit, but I don't think they are a greater part of my decision.

How often do you play Counter-Strike nowadays?

As I said I play some public and against bots so I play around 4-5 hours a week perhaps, more than you thought, huh?

Have you received any hot offers since you left NiP?

Yeah, I've got quite a lot offers actually, but none that got me thinking "wow, this is something I should go for". Mostly it has been from foreign and smaller organisations.

Do you think you will have problems reaching your old skill level after not been playing on a competitive level for quite some time?

Of course your skill level individually is lowered after not been playing on a serious level for several months, but that's definately something you can work on by playing. You just have to play a lot. As far as what I have seen nothing revolutionary has happened with how you play the game, so I don't I will have any problems with readjusting.

Now when you have some perspective and doesn't necessarily have to speak well about your current team mates – seeing that you don't have any – I thought we should talk about some comparions between clans. How about EYE and SK (who later became NiP), what were the greatest differences between the teams?

I'd say EYE was more of a friends' clan than SK. In SK we always played on LAN which led to a very intense situation when we spent so much time together and met each other almost every day. In EYE we only met at competitions and the training part was mostly executed on Internet, with a bootcamp prior to big tournemants as an exception. So SK felt a lot more proffesional but meanwhile also harder, I believe you fly at each other more often which never is good.

However, I don't think we had any problems in the social part in neither SK or EYE. Naturally you argue sometimes but I guess that happens all groups of people that hang around 24/7.

Apparently it didn't work out in NiP, how great impact do you think the fact that you played for NiP, and not for SK which you did earlier, had on you? Do you think things would have gone better if you'd play for another team?

No, it had absolutely nothing to do with the organisation we had behind us, the conditions in NiP were as good as they could ever be. I couldn't say that the conditions could have affected our play more than we got more pressure on ourself, but you should be used to that on that level.

Speaking of NiP, that the results were a strongly contributing factor to your split is more or less settled, what's your take on the reasons for the split?

You got it, the results were the main reason for the split but I believe that it didn't work out 100 % with the social plan either. There were many strong wills and really no strong leader who could make the final decisions. I don't have anything against neither of the players or anyone in the organisation, they're all good guys.

After the NiP split there were parted opinions of what really happend in the end of the NiP era. One side says that HeatoN chose to kick the majority of the team while the other part says that they themself chose to leave. What do you have to say about this?

We left the team of our own accord, we definately weren't kicked.

What events in your CS career do you value the most?

Without a doubt our victory in CPL Summer 2004. The whole tournament went perfectly and we played almost flawlessly. To beat SK two times in a row after all the final losses we had against them was huge!

Do you still keep in touch with the people you got to know during your time as a CS player?

Sure I do, but I got better relationships with some people than others. But I've got friends for life and even though I don't hang out with someone frequently I do my best to stay in touch at least.

As we've earlier stated, the top of the CS elite is really even on today's date. What do you think about the future there? Do you think it will continue to stay even or will some clan start dominating, like SK did in 2003?

Well, that really depends, I've always believed in keeping a team and really go for it, after that you can start talking about becoming really, really well. I know I talk in double standard here, but I'll take that.

How does a typical day for you look like?

Well... I get up at 07.00, take a shower, eat breakfast and try to get to work so I can be there at 8. I work til 16-16.30 and then I go home, sit at the computer and chat with friends and so on. If I don't do anything in the evening I go to sleep already around 22. In the weekends I try to go out as much as possible to meet people and partying. That's how I live, I guess.

Seeing that you have been a part of the inner circle of the elite, tell us some juicy insider info from the darkened world of the elite!

Naah, it doesn't work like that. I've taken my oath. But Micke is still "mest lol" however.

Which CS player do you admire the most of the ones you've played with, and why?

vilden definately, foremost because we've become such good friends but also because I've learnt so much by playing with him. I believe and hope that he has learnt some by playing with me also. He is also the second best in the world.

Good luck with what the future will hold! The last word is yours!

That will be just fine.

Naturally it will be really exciting to follow Hyper's possible comeback to the Counter-Strike scene, an excitment which get increased by today's situation in the scene where you find many players without a clan. Will Hyper be a part of a new Swedish superclan? Let the speculations flow!
