LDLC and fnatic advance in the upper bracket

1
Six maps later, it's settled that LDLC and fnatic come out winning in tonight's battles. This means mousesports and Titan from now on have to fight for their tournament lives in the lower bracket.
After about five and a half hours, the two best of threes scheduled for tonight has been settled. There wasn't much dead time this evening though, as both matches went to a third deciding map. In the end, LDLC and fnatic were the ones to advance in the upper bracket.

LDLC overcame mousesports

The first game of the night was the one between LDLC and mousesports. The latter came in to the match as underdogs, especially as they have only played with Finn "karrigan" Andersen for about a week, as well as Andreas "schneider" Lindberg replacing Aleksi "allu" Jalli for the night. But taken notes about mousesports participating with a fairly untested lineup, they surprised.

Dust2 started off as you'd expect watching the lineups on paper, though. As CT, Titan shut down the bombsites twice as much as mousesports got to bomb them, and after winning the Terrorist pistol round, it was pretty clear which team played with a full lineup tonight.

The following Mirage didn't go similar, though. The German-based team of mousesports secured a relatively strong amount of eight rounds as the charging team, and although LDLC had a strong Terrorist side as well, it wasn't strong enough to prevent the game to go into a third deciding map.

The fairly new map Overpass would be the one to settle it all, and as the normally harder Terrorist side, LDLC snatched eight rounds against mousesports' seven. Vincent "Happy" Cervoni then secured the following pistol round for his French team thanks to a triple kill with the USP-S, and even though mousesports never gave up the fight, Titan got the win in the end thanks to solid defense.
Frankrike LDLC vs. Europa mousesports — 2-1

mouz: chrisJ, LEGIJA, tabseN, karrigan, schneider

Dust2: 16-6 (10-5)
Mirage: 14-16 (7-8)
Overpass: 16-10 (8-7)

fnatic got their revenge against Titan

The second match of the evening was the highly anticipated re-match between fnatic and Titan, who hadn't faced each other in a best of three since the French team eliminated the Swedes at DreamHack Stockholm.

It all started on Mirage, where the Terrorist side, just as in the game between LDLC and mousesports, proved to be the the slightly stronger one. The Swedes succeeded to charge Titan nine times on the first fifteen tries, making the half time score 9-6 in favor of fnatic. The Swede's CT side then proved to be even better, and they got the 1-0 lead with a 16-10 score.

Cache followed, and Titan really stepped up their game. Although, this didn't really show until the second half of the game, as the French team had a relatively weak CT side, only being up one round in half time. On the Terrorist side, Titan showed confidence, and grabbed a lead early on. But it took a while to close the game, and it wasn't until they split-pushed bombsite A on an eco that they got the win and a 1-1 map score.

The deciding map, Inferno, went nothing like the other maps. Fnatic are known for being particularly strong on this map, and it was clear in this meeting. On the CT side, they got an incredible fourteen rounds in their favor, and although Titan got a comforting second half pistol round, there wasn't much they could do to prevent the loss.
Sverige fnatic vs. Frankrike Titan — 2-1

fnatic: JW, pronax, flusha, olofm, krimz
Titan: Ex6TenZ, kennyS, apEX, KQLY, Maniac

Inferno: 16-6 (14-1)
Tonight's results mean that LDLC and fnatic will face each other in the second upper bracket round, where the winners will qualify for the Fragbite Masters Season 3 powered by Com Hem LAN finals. Titan and mousesports will hereinafter fight for their tournament lives in the lower bracket.
