    1. Tournament format






      The tournament uses the following format:





    • Step 1: Qualifying stage
    • Step 2: Group stage
    • Step 3: Group stage #2
    • Step 4: Finals Week



    1.1. Qualifying stage
      The qualifying stage of the tournament will take place during the course of two weeks. Four qualifying tournaments will be held and a total of 16 players will qualify for the main tournament. Each qualifier can hold up to 128 players and will be played for one day.









    • Qualifier #1 – 2/9

    • Qualifier #2 – 4/9

    • Qualifier #3 – 9/9

    • Qualifier #4 – 11/9
    1.2. Group Stage #1
      The first group stage will consist of 32 players. 16 players that qualified via one of the qualifying tournaments and 16 players that were invited. During the course of four days 8 groups with four players in each group will fight for 16 spots. The “double elimination bracket” system will be used and the games will be played Best-of-three.









    • Groups 1-2 – 17/9

    • Groups 3-4 – 18/9

    • Groups 5-6 – 19/9

    • Groups 7-8 – 20/9



    1.3. Group Stage #2
      The second group stage will consist of 16 players and they will be placed in eight groups. One group will play each day and the “double elimination bracket” system will be used. The only difference is that the consolidation match will be saved for friday. All the games will be best-of-three.









    • Group A – 23/9

    • Group B – 24/9

    • Group C – 25/9

    • Group D – 26/9

    • Consolidation friday – 27/9



    1.4. Finals week
      The finals week will take place in december and eight players will fight for the 160 000 SEK. The eight players will be placed single elimination playoffs bracket and all the quarterfinal is best-of-three (BO3). The remaining games will be best-of-five (BO5).









    • Playoffs – 9/12



    1.5. Double elimination bracket group system
      The double elimination bracket system have been used for a long time in StarCraft II. In the first round the teams play against their opponent. The winning teams from the first round will face off to decide the first place in the group. The two losers from the first round will play a match to decide who ends up last. The loser from the “winners match” will face the winner of the “losers match”. This last match is called the consolidation match and that match will decide the second place finisher in the group.







    Example:
      First round:
    • Alpha vs. Beta – 2-2
    • Charlie vs. Delta – 2-1







    • Second round:



    • Beta vs. Charlie (Winners match) – 2-0 – Beta taking the first place spot
    • Alpha vs. Delta (Losers match) – 0-2 – Alpha taking the last place in the group







    • Third round:



    • Alpha vs. Delta (consolidation match) – 1-2 – Delta securing second place in the group







    2. Tournament rules







    2.1 Race
    • No race swapping – You play as the race you signed up as
    2.2 Server & Settings
    • All games must be played on the european Battle.net server. Unless both players agree on something elese.
    • Each game must be played in Faster mode.
    • Every player must set their status to Busy while ingame
    • Make sure to always be in the chat room “Fragbite"

    • Bel'Shir Vestige
    • Derelict Watcher
    • Neo Planet S
    • Newkirk Precinct
    • Red City
    • Star Station
    • Whirlwind



    3. Map choosing



    3.1 Map choosing for a best-of-three (BO3) match
      For this type of match format both players must respect the following procedure:



    • Player B removes one of the 7 maps;
    • Player A removes one of the 6 remaining maps;
    • Player B removes one of the 5 remaining maps;
    • Player A removes one of the 4 remaining maps;
    • Player B picks the first map to be played on;
    • Player A picks the second map to be played on;
    • The last map will be, if needed, played as the third map









    • The first match is played on the map which is selected by Player A at step 5 of this procedure.
    3.2 Map choosing for a best-of-five (BO5) match
      For this type of match format both players must respect the following procedure:
    • Player B removes one of the 7 maps;
    • Player A removes one of the 6 remaining maps;
    • Player B picks one of the 5 remaining maps, will be played as 1st map;
    • Player A picks one of the 4 remaining maps, will be played as 2nd map;
    • Player B picks one of the 3 remaining maps, will be played as 3rd map;
    • Player A picks one of the remaining 2 maps, will be played as fourth map;
    • The last map will be, if needed, played as fifth map.






    4. During a match








    4.2 Match stopped
      Players are not expected to leave an official game in progress unless it is authorized by the

      match format or it has been expressly authorized by the tournament officials.

    4.3 Match interrupted
      If a match is involuntary interrupted (player’s PC crash, server crash, power outage, network

      issues, etc.) the tournament officials may decide to replay the match according to the following

      rules:

    • If the problem occurs in the first five minutes of the game and nothing important have occured
    • If the match is interrupted because of a server issue then the admin in charge will make a decision based on the information that is aviable.
    4.4 Pausing a match
      In order to unpause the match, only the player that requested the pause may unpause the game.





    5.1 Investigation request
      When a player suspects that they are being a victim of rule violations during a match, players

      are compelled not to stop the game by any means and to properly finish it. Once the match is over, the player may officially ask for an investigation to tournament officials. It is strongly

      advised to provide valuable information that may help the tournament director in his investigation.

      Unjustified and repetitive use of this right may be sanctioned. You can request a conflict after the game but only five minutes after the game in question have ended.

    6. Other rules and violations




    6.1 Forbidden software installation
      Players are forbidden from bringing, installing, downloading or using any external software

      or hardware that interacts in-game. It is also forbidden any form of modification that would alter the game or allow a player to execute, automatically, more than one in-game action. Players are not to use any configuration files, unless expressly authorized by a tournament official.

    6.1 Forbidden in-game actions
      The following actions are strictly prohibited during a game and will result in round loss (the

      amount is determined by the tournament director) which will be deducted at the end of the match, and a warning:




    • Any form of script is forbidden;

    • In game chatting should be as limited as possible.

    • Any custom (game) files.

    6.2 Sanctions
      A player may be cautioned and receive warnings if he/she commits any of the

      following offences:




    • Refuses to follow tournament officials’ instructions;
    • Arrives late at his convocation schedule;
    • Shows dissent by word or action;
    • Uses insulting language and/or gestures;
    • Is guilty of unsporting behavior.



    • Player may receive a sanction if he/she commits any of the following offences:



    • Receives more than one warning;
    • Is guilty of violent conduct;
    • Uses any unlawful or unfair proceedings;
    • Mislead or dupe any tournament official.



    • A player may lose a match or multiple matches if they find themselves in one of the following situations:



    • If a player is not ready within 15 minutes after the official match should’ve begin, the player in

      question will forfeit the first match as follows:

      If the match is in a best-of-three/five format then the player will forfeit the map in

      question.

    • If a player is not ready within 20 minutes after the official match should’ve begin, the player in

      question will forfeit the game.

    • You have 5 minutes between maps in a Bo3 / Bo5-series to prepare yourself.

    6.3 Sent off
      After studying of a sanction by the competition manager and the tournament director, a

      sanctioned player may be subject to additional sanctions such as multiple default loss,

      disqualification of the players, and banishment of next year’s competition.

      A disqualified player will automatically lose all his next matches by default and loses all

      rights and prizes that would have been awarded. In a group stage, the previous matches’ results

      within the group are cancelled and are also lost by default. All points won or lost are backwardly redistributed.

  • ALL DECISIONS MUST GO THROUGH AN ADMIN BEFORE IT GETS CONFIRMED.








    NOTE: Tournament officials may change the current rules before or during the entire Fragbite Masters 2013 event. In certain cases, depending on the situations, exceptions to these rules may be made.
