The final games of the Philips OneBlade Cup Swedish regional tournament was played yesterday evening the 25th of June. The first semifinal pair was played between AJxCR7 and HortyGoose. Somewhat strangely, the second semifinal pair was already decided before the ball was dropped as Oliboli7 was unable to play in his semifinal pair, which meant that OskarW automatically qualified himself to the final of the Swedish regional tournament.
As usual in the Philips OneBlade Cup, the semifinal and final were two legged, which meant that the winner would be decided on the aggregate result of the two matches.
The first semifinal pair was surprisingly one sided as AJxCR7 absolutely dominated the first leg, by defeating HortyGoose 5-0. The semifinal pair was more or less decided after the first leg as the second leg ended in a 2-1 win for AJxCR7.
This meant that AJxCR7 qualified himself to the final where he would meet OskarW. AJxCR7’s undefeated night continued as he defeated OskarW 2-0 in the first leg and 5-1 on aggregate, which meant that he can now proudly call himself the Swedish champion of the Philips OneBlade Cup and the first seed for next week’s final tournament.
In next week’s final stage of the tournament we will see all the Swedish players again, as well as Finland’s, Norway’s and Denmark’s top 4 players. What an exciting final to look forward to next week!
