The Blue Bracket, which is the first of two brackets in the main tournament of Fragbite Masters powered by Com Hem Season 5, started off yesterday, where we saw the invited teams HellRaisers, NiP Gaming and Team SoloMid play against qualified teams in a best of three series each.

TSM survived a Torpedo attack

The night started off with a big shocker when the Danish power squad Team SoloMid faced the Swedish up-and-comers Torpedo. The match started off on Cache, and it looked like there would be no trouble at all for the Danes to take the win, after Peter "dupreeh" Rothmann had a fantastic USP-S showing. Their continued dominance brought them to a massive 14-7 lead, but then, something happened in Torpedo.



The Swedish team, in a cut-throat situation, started to gain momentum, winning round after round as CT. The comeback was just about to become reality, especially after Joachim "darti" Fornstedt had a ballsy 2vs4 showing including a jumping headshot and a power defuse at 14-14, taking the challengers to match point. However, Team SoloMid won the following round and forced the map to overtime, which they essentially won in four straight rounds.

After the narrow score on Cache, people were truly looking forward to see what the Swedes would bring on the following Overpass. Unfortunately, the answer was next to nothing. TSM really brought their A game as the offensive side on the map, winning twelve rounds in the opening half. Torpedo had next to no chance bringing this one back, and lost the map 16-4.

Orgless put up a fight against HellRaisers

The second game of the night was between invited HellRaisers and last-chance qualified Orgless. That match didn't really go as many had expected, as Orgless sure did put up a fight. The opening map, Cobblestone, almost went all the way when HellRaisers won with a 16-13 result. Orgless then hit back with a huge 16-5 win on Dust2, which they achieved by winning eleven rounds as Terrorists. At 1-1 in maps, Mirage was going to decide the fates of these teams.

HellRaisers, considered the favourites in the match, started off as the defending team, and did well. They got ten rounds in their pocket before reaching half time, but it didn't really secure a win at that point. When it was their time to play as CT, Orgless started climbing back into the match, evening the score out. It was all in vein, however, as HellRaisers won the last couple of rounds to win the map 16-14 and the series 2-1.

Close call in the Swedish derby

The last quarter final in the Blue Bracket was between two Swedish teams; NiP Gaming and GreyFace. The Ninjas In Pyjamas, who didn't play the previous edition of Fragbite Masters, sure got a rocky start to their season when the underdogs in GreyFace, lead by Alexander "SKYTTEN" Carlsson, stepped it up.

On Cache, which was a map chosen by the challengers, Carlsson's men got eight impressive rounds on the board on their CT half. Unfortunately for them, and for people rooting for underdogs, their consistent play didn't work as well as the charging team. Even though GreyFace got some rounds on the board, it wasn't enough for an upset win.

Dust2, the map chosen by NiP Gaming, was a roller coaster. GreyFace started off as Counter-Terrorists, winning nine rounds in the opening half. After that, the Swedish challengers got up to 14 rounds fairly quickly, really getting people to believe a third map was going to be needed in the match. However, NiP did what NiP do best — they started to lock down the bomb sites and climbing back into the game. Fact is, they succeeded with their comeback, winning 16-14 and avoiding a decider on Inferno.

Team SoloMid vs. Touch The Crown tonight

As the matches above have been played, we bid Torpedo, Team Dignitas, Orgless and GreyFace farewell for this season, while we welcome the winners to the Blue Bracket semi finals. The first of these two semis will be played tonight, when Touch The Crown from Germany face off against Team SoloMid at 18:00 CEST.

The German team are still waiting to play their main tournament debut as they were left with a default win over Team Dignitas, who pulled out of the tournament. Meanwhile, TSM are on a winning streak of 22 straight map victories. Please note that the second semi final, between HellRaisers and NiP Gaming, as well as the Blue Bracket final, will be played on Thursday.
