Fragbite Masters will be back

Counter-Strike: GO

Dignitas and Titan the last two remaining

1
After a long night with three best of three games, it's settled that Dignitas and Titan will be facing in the grand final of Fragbite Masters.
It was a long one, but it was also a good one. The finalists for Fragbite Masters powered by Com Hem have been presented, and it's the danish team Dignitas and French-Belgian Titan who will play for the first prize of 60 000 SEK, approximately 6 700 euros. It all went down like this.

Virtus.pro vs. Dignitas — Upper bracket final

Last night started off with the upper bracket final, a match that would decide who's going to the grand final and who's dropping down to the consolidation match. The odds were pretty heavily in favor of Virtus.pro, but they ended up being wrong. The opening map, Mirage, was a strong one for Dignitas as they took ten CT rounds against five, and won the map fairly simple only losing three rounds as Terrorists.

Inferno, however, was a completely different story. Although it looked like Dignitas would win this series easily, as they got a massive 13-2 result as defenders, Virtus.pro meant otherwise. Just like we've seen so many times before in Fragbite Masters, a comeback was presented. Virtus.pro played just as flawlessly as Dignitas did on the defending side, forcing the map to overtime. There, though, Dignitas switched up their game a tad to find a hole in VP's defense, which eventually led to them winning the map and series.
Polen Virtus.pro vs. Danmark dignitas — 0-2

Virtus: TaZ, Neo, pasha, byali, Snax
dignitas: FeTiSh, dupreeh, device, cajunb, Xyp9x

Mirage: 8-16 (5-10)
Inferno: 17-19 (2-13)
Titan vs. LDLC.com — Lower bracket final

The clash of the French teams was up next, where they would decide who were going to face Virtus.pro in the consolidation match, and who would be sent packing. It all opened up on Dust2, where Titan, namely Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux and his AWP, had a great start as CT, picking up seven out of the first nine rounds. As halftime arrived, LDLC had reduced the gap a bit, but Titan were still in the lead with nine rounds to six. You'd think this map would have a turnaround when LDLC.com won the upcoming CT pistol round, but Titan actually managed to bring it back with a full glock eco the next round. If this wasn't a nail in the coffin, I don't know what is. Titan won all following rounds but one and secured themselves the first map.

Mirage followed, and LDLC showed a solid defense as they won two thirds of the rounds prior to halftime. They kept their strong performance on the Terrorist side, and after some technical issues, they won the map with the same numbers as Titan had against them on the previous map.

Nuke was the deciding map for this match-up, and boy did it look like it was going LDLC's way as they had a fantastic 6-1 lead as Terrorists, which is usually the weaker side on this map. At this point, though, Titan started winning rounds and eventually closed the gap. They were even up one round going over to the Terrorist side, but they had a long road ahead of them, and it didn't help that LDLC won the following pistol round either.

The pistol round win, followed by two won anti-eco rounds, gave LDLC a 10-8 lead. Titan got a break when they won the first weapon round, but LDLC met their round win with one of their own. Now, Titan put in another gear and showed that they can play on the attacking side as well. They actually won all the following rounds, meaning they won the series and advanced to the consolidation match.
Frankrike Titan vs. Frankrike LDLC.com — 2-1

Titan: Ex6TenZ, ScreaM, shox, SmithZz, NBK
LDLC: apEX, KQLY, Happy, Maniac, Uzzziii

Dust2: 16-8 (9-6)
Mirage: 8-16 (5-10)
Nuke: 16-11 (8-7)
Titan vs. Virtus.pro — Consolidation match

The win against LDLC.com gave Titan a chance to redeem themselves against the poles of Virtus.pro. Last time these teams met, the Polish just barely side came out on top forcing Titan down to the lower bracket, and now they had to meet eye to eye to see which one would face Dignitas in the grand final, and who would go home with the bronze.

The French-Belgian side got off to an amazing start, having a 5-0 lead as the, normally, harder CT side. Now even though Virtus.pro got on the board, they really didn't get there with enough numbers to call their T side a good half. Titan had a 12-3 lead going over to the supposedly easier side, and the pistol round would decide it all.

Richard "shox" Papillon, one of the many star players on Titan's side, didn't want to give Virtus.pro the opportunity to get back into the match. On the following pistol round, playing as the attacking team, he saw himself being alone against four Virtus.pro players. In a couple of shots with the glock, though, he had gotten three headshots — four kills in total — to end up one on one with Filip "neo" Kubski, who had the bomb secured. Papillon then managed to get a hold of the bomb and plant it with eight seconds left, and then finish the round with a great flick oneshot with the glock. An ace with a one-versus-four situation gave Papillon another nomination for Play of the Day, and it also meant there was no way back for the Poles.

The second map of the series was Cache, where Titan picked up the three opening rounds as CT. Virtus.pro won the first weapon round, but Titan answered by winning another two of their own. The half then ended 9-6 in Titan's favor, and Titan continued by picking up the pistol round. Thereafter the rounds went a bit to both sides, but the French-based team was always a couple of rounds ahead, which eventually gave them the win of the series and a spot in the grand final.
Frankrike Titan vs. Polen Virtus.pro — 2-0

Titan: Ex6TenZ, ScreaM, shox, SmithZz, NBK
Virtus: TaZ, Neo, pasha, byali, Snax

Dust2: 16-3 (12-3)
Cache: 16-11 (9-6)
This means we only have two teams left in Fragbite Masters powered by Com Hem; Dignitas of Denmark and the French-Belgian Titan. These two will play a best of five against each other, where the Danes will start with a 1-0 lead thanks to coming from the upper bracket.
