The Swedish team NiP Gaming, defending champions of Fragbite Masters, are out of the tournament. This was settled in tonight's lower bracket battle against HellRaisers, who came out on top. The Danish team dignitas also keep impressing as they beat k1ck, who then lost to fnatic in the lower bracket.
Dignitas vs. k1ck
The first match of the night was the upper bracket game between Dignitas and the Portuguese team k1ck. This came to be a very back and forth game, but not in the sense that it was close in rounds, though. Mirage was the first one to be played, where Dignitas, despite losing the pistol round, took a dominating 11-1 lead as CT. Then k1ck picked up another round, but only to lose the rest of the map, making the score 16-2 in favor of the Danes.
Dust2 was a completely different story. Well, not really different, but flipped into k1cks favor. Here, the Portuguese side were the ones taking a massive lead, as the attacking team, getting 10-0 before dignitas were even on the score board. The half ended 13-2, and even though dignitas picked up the following pistol round, the map's ending was written quickly and painless.
This meant we would have our first "game three" of the Fragbite Masters season, where the teams would fight on Nuke. Once again, the dominance changed side when Dignitas managed to pick ten straight rounds, resulting in a stunning 14-1 score as Terrorists. The Portuguese side then won the pistol round, but the odds were too much against them at this point, and the Danes finished the series with a 2-1 score.
The massive, star-filled clash between NiP Gaming and HellRaisers followed. The match was a lower bracket one, meaning a single map would determine who would advance and who would go out of the tournament. Inferno was the map to decide their fates, and the CIS based team got off to a great start as attackers. HellRaisers had a good lead after eight rounds, but then NiP started to get their feeling for the match, reducing the score to 6-9 before half time.
The Swedes then won the upcoming pistol round, evening out the score to 9-9. At this point, the rounds started to go back and forth. HellRaisers always seemed to be able to buy just enough to pick up every other round, but got a grip of the situation when the score was 11-11. They then picked up five of the following six rounds, grabbing the win with a four round margin.
As the Portuguese team k1ck lost their best of three against dignitas, they were pushed down to the lower bracket to face off against Fnatic. Once again, the map was Nuke, and once again, k1ck struggled a bit. The Swedish team picked up eleven rounds as Counter-Terrorists, which should be seen as a good result for the defending side. But in the other half, k1ck started slowly climbing back into the game. Unfortunately for them, fnatic's lead was too strong for them to carry through a comeback.
