Pros' perspectives: Best AWPer of all time

1
"Pros' perspectives" is a new feature series which sees a variety of well known past and present Counter-Strike professionals all giving their answer to a single question. In this first edition find out which sniper stands out as the best of all time as 28 pros give their take on Counter-Strike's best ever AWPer.

Question: Who is the best AWPer of all time?

AdreN:
" Markeloff. This is probably the most popular answer, but nevetheless, I never saw someone as skilled with the AWP as he is in my whole CS career. I'll never forget when he had a frags/deaths ratio of 3:1 during CSDM warm-ups at Arbalet Cup Best Of 4 championship. Usually most of the pros only manage to keep a 2:1 ratio."
allen:
"Could be a couple competing for that but Delpan is one of them for sure, I like that hes really aggressive with the AWP as well. Fun awper!"
approx:
"I can't tell you the best one ever. A long time ago it was fRoD, later it was cogu, after these guys it was dsn. I really don't know. There are too many of them."
B1ad3:
"Nowadays it is Markeloff, a few years ago it was Sunde, before his vacation to South America. By the way, Friis is pretty good too with his unique style of shooting."
bsl:
" cogu! He changed the way and style that you now expect AWPers to have."
cArn:
"As CS has evolved so much, and the way teams play it, I have to answer this depending on era. For instance, cogu was really strong around 2006-2007, rarely missed a shot. Markeloff and Sunde had their run as well, 2008 and 2010 respectively. The most successful one has to be dsn as he has won the most, simple as that. Today I would say Delpan is the best."
da bears:
" zid, was pretty amazing with an awp. He was out-AWPing fRoD when people feared fRoD's AWP!"
dsn:
" cogu, who in his prime almost never missed a shot. He had a really good work ethic, from what I could tell, and always came to play."
Edward:
" markeloN~~~"
evolution:
" fRoD"
face:
" Delpan"
fisker:
" Walle, lightning reflexes! :)"
hooch:
" markeloff"
Kapio:
" Sunde. He was a very smart player. It was so difficult to play him, because he was so experienced with anti-tactics against him so he had to master a lot of ways to force frags. I remember a match on train in a big tournament, where he showed some incredible reflexes and aimed so fast I couldn't believe it. Most of the time a smart AWP with great positioning, but when needed he showed his raw skills."
lurppis:
"I think cogu was the best AWPer ever, it's sad his career was cut short eventually and he had to go through CGS but thinking all the way back to 2005 when I played mibr the first time, I remember the astralis guys told us all we had to do was kill cogu and we'd win the round - unfortunately he was so good you couldn't just kill him like that. While markeloff comes close, I think cogu was more dominant overall, especially considering his teammates. Whereas markeloff has a better system built around him, it seemed like cogu ran more things in mibr, which made it all the more impressive that he could play at such a level to at times carry his team on the way to wins like ESWC 2006."
MJE:
" Sunde"
natu:
" Markeloff with their 2010 performance outmatches anyone out there. His role in Na'Vi´s march that year was probably 50% of the whole team. When you can dominate your opponents like this guy at events and in big games – there's no contest."
NEO:
" markeloff. He just makes so much difference in the game when he has the AWP."
niko:
"Hard question but I guess I'll have to say pasha. He is aggresive with the AWP and I like it."
pita:
"No doubt, it's Delpan. I'm not saying this because he is a good friend of mine, but because his playstyle with the AWP is so aggressive that it is good for the team to have a guy like that. I mean, having an AWP player that sits around camping the whole round and takes out two in the end of the round is not thatvaluable, as opposed to having a guy taking entries with the AWP. That's something that Delpan always did, and back in fnatic when we played well it was mostly thanksto him getting the early entry. Playing against four opponents is just as it sounds, easier than playing against five - logic!"
plastE:
" markeloff, he's the reason why Na'Vi is on top now. I hate to play against him because he never misses. I also remember when we were in Ukraine (in 07 or 08) when we didn't even know who we were playing, then some player called "markeloff" owned us and we placed last at that tournament."
Potti:
" SpawN, this guy on train for example with his movement and AWP. GL is all I can say for the opponent :)"
Rambo:
" Ksharp, duh."
Savage:
"I wish it was me, - - but for now it should be a battle between markeloff and Delpan. The up and coming colon has a great AWP as well."
trace:
" markeloff"
XeqtR:
"Dunno. Too many sick AWPers out there, don't even wanna try to rank THE best. shaGuar was awesome in NoA though, when he wanted to be."
Xp3:
" fRoD back in the day, now markeloff"
Zonic:
"Tough question. I think markeloff is a great AWPer, but I think that role in particular is hard to predict since a great AWPer often needs a good team in order to be successful. I mean when you play as T on train, for example, you need a really good team to attack outside in order for the AWP player to go out and get some kills. The best AWP player in the World can look really bad if his team doesn't help him. Sunde, Markeloff, cogu, Delpan, fRoD are probably good candidates."
Pros' perspectives will return soon with another edition, as the panel of former and present day pros give their take on another of CS history's big questions.
